Grass Fertilization
Before fertilizing your grass determine the specific species you have. Different species require different amounts of nitrogen, phosphorous, and potassium (NPK). After reading the product's instructions, use a broadcast spreader to disperse the proper amount of granular fertilizer onto dry grass. When the application is complete, water the granules in. Weed and feed products not only fertilize the grass, but also control weeds. Apply weed and feed granules in the same way you apply fertilizer.
Shrub Fertilization
Different shrubs require different fertilizers. For instance hibiscus, azalea, and ixora all need a high acid fertilizer. Indian Hawthorne requires more nitrogen, such as 16-4-8 or 12-4-8. Eleagnus needs higher amounts of phosphorous. Research your shrubs before fertilizing so as to avoid harming them.
Palm & Tree Fertilization
Palms like an NPK ratio of 3:1:3. Trace elements, such as sulfur, zinc, boron, and copper, are also extremely important to palms. Some palm fertilizers are granular, while others come in the form of spikes which are inserted into the ground beneath the palm's canopy. Water the fertilizer in completely. Different trees need different types of fertilizer. Visit your local nursery to discover the type that's best for your specimen.
